Hey there Rumor Mill. Remember when you were a forum for reviewing the vendors on this wonderful site, and not just a place for everyone to collectively lose their shit? Remember when people would show up and say what they thought about vendors and their products, instead of troll accounts trying to spread fear for no reason? I would love to go back to those days.
I'm going to repost something I posted in another thread to ease everyone's fears a bit. There's no giant scams here, nothing crazy, we're not compromised. Just a few unfortunate events happening around the same time. Let's look at the timeline:
1) Noriega and Tony76 pulled off a scam coinciding with the 4/20 sale. It wasn't that hard. They just had to convince buyers to finalize early. The moral is don't finalize early and you'll be fine. There's really not much more to it. No conspiracies, no DPR screwing everyone over, just two assholes with the same idea and the buyers that let them get away with it.
2) USDirect's account was apparently hacked, and his bitcoin was taken away. He is now doing his best to help the buyers that got screwed (or so it would seem, but only time will tell). Once again, only the buyers that finalized early are in any sort of trouble. The fact that this happened immediately after the above scams is an unfortunate coincidence.
3) The timing of (1) and (2) has caused the Rumor Mill to completely lose its shit. Troll accounts are showing up left and right, disorder is being caused for no reason, and I wouldn't be surprised if a couple of those accounts were just LE trying to scare people away from the Silk Road because they know they can't touch us. But it's all just paranoia. No one wants to admit that the only problem here is that people continue to finalize early. They're eager to jump into conspiracy theories and blame DPR and the like, because they can't admit that they made a poor decision.
So basically don't finalize early and you'll be fine. No need to worry. The site isn't crashing and burning. If you're worried, take a week off maybe and relax and let things return to normal. Everybody breeeeeeathe.

This is by far the most accurate and insightful summary of recent events on SilkRoad that I have read.
Granted, our primary reason for being here is to score dope...
but it's still worthwhile to know what the score is in general.
